Privacy policy

Pulse Map is a Canadian product hosted in Quebec. We collect the minimum data needed to run the service, we don't sell it, and you can read or delete it any time.

🟡 This policy is drafted for review by a Quebec digital-law attorney. The principles below reflect our intent; the final text may be adjusted for formal compliance with Law 25 and PIPEDA.

Data controller

Pulse Map is operated by [Legal entity pending incorporation], based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The privacy officer required under Law 25 is reachable at legal@pulsemap.ca.

Data we collect

Account (email, display name), saved events, followed venues, submissions, attendance verifications, and anonymized usage logs. No biometrics, no continuous location storage — your position is used in-the-moment only to center the map near you.

How we use it

Run the app, measure traffic (self-hosted PostHog with no third-party pixels), send the notifications you've turned on, prevent fraud. No resale, no third-party programmatic advertising.

Your rights (Law 25)

You can request a copy of your data (JSON export inside the app), correct your profile (direct edit), delete your account (14-day grace period), withdraw a consent (Settings → Privacy), or file a complaint with the CAI. See our Law 25 page for procedures.

Retention

Active account: as long as you use it. Deleted account: 14-day grace, then erasure. Audit logs: 1 year. Encrypted backups: 30 days.

Transfers outside Quebec

🟡 Primary hosting: Supabase Canada Central. Backups replicated within Canada only. Sentry (error reporting) processes data in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses; you can disable that telemetry in Settings.
