À propos

Dr. Florian Marx is a physician and epidemiologist at Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany. His research focuses on the epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) and the impact of public health interventions on reducing TB morbidity and mortality in high-risk populations. He currently leads an Emmy Noether Research Group funded by the German Research Foundation focused on strategies to optimize TB treatment outcomes. His other projects include modelling to estimate the population-level impact of the Gates Foundation R&D portfolio for TB and health-economic evaluations of novel TB diagnostics. His group also contributes to the global TB screening investment case initiated by the WHO. Summary of the seminar: This talk will address the persistent gap between tuberculosis (TB) treatment outcomes among participants of drug trials and individuals receiving routine TB care. It will introduce OpTBtreat, a six-year fellowship project funded by the German Research Foundation that aims to generate new insights into key drivers and mechanisms of poor treatment outcomes, and to integrate this knowledge into a modelling and health-economic framework to enable prioritization and systematic assessment of tools and strategies. The talk will highlight early progress and discuss how this work can inform more effective, individualized, and scalable interventions to improve health outcomes among TB patients globally. You can join the session virtually using this link or meeting ID: 825 5213 8895 with passcode: TBFacts
